| I know I should have gotten back to all of you before now ... but it has been crazy. Lisa was put in for induction a week ago Wednesday (four and a a half weeks early) and the medicine didn't work. They decided to try again Thursday morning. Late Thursday afternoon her doctor came in with some bad news and scared us all to death. She told Lisa that her new blood work showed she had another new "titer" in her blood. I don't know how much I told you before, but Lisa tested positive for Duffy, little C, big E and the new and fourth one was JK 2. St. Mary's has never had a case with 4 "titers" and once again Lisa made medical history and will now be in case studies.
They were trying to find blood for Lisa for the C-Section and believe me it wasn't easy! Thank goodness for the American Red Cross. The hospital got the neonatal team ready and Lisa was taken in and delivered a beautiful baby girl and she weighed in at a whopping 6.5 pounds. She needed help breathing but not so much that she had to be intubated ... just oxygen through the nostrils. The baby was taken by the pediatrician before Lisa got to even see her and the team worked on her ... expecting the worst. They had everything imaginable ready for the baby but she wasn't nearly as bad as they thought. She was taken to NICU and had all the tubes and needles and lights placed and she was a scary sight for several days, but got better everyday. The following Monday Lisa came home, without the baby, and that was really hard. She's nursing and the baby eats every three hours so Lisa spent all her time at the hospital. We were pleasantly surprised when two days later the hospital called and said Elizabeth (Libby) could come home.
She is still pretty fragile, but she gets stronger everyday. She's been to the Pediatrician once and has to go again tomorrow. She's had to go for blood work three days in a row too, but she takes it like a champ, doesn't even cry!
Yes, I am spoiling her rotten. She is such a little darling. She looks exactly like Lisa's baby pictures too. Her temperment is much like Lisa's when she was a newborn too. I told Lisa I knew this baby was going to be a "Keeton" and she is.
I've taken lot's of pictures and thought I would share some of my favorites with you.
Take care,
Cindi
